Healey Elliott Racing Car 1948
In spring 1948 Italian racing ace Count 'Johnny' Lurani entered an Elliott in the Sicilian Targa Florio race with co-driver Dorino Serafini and finished 13th. This was in a relatively standard and unprepared car, collected from the factory in England and driven across Europe to Sicily only days before the race. In the 1948 Mille Miglia Count Giovanni Lurani, with co-driver Guglielmo Sandri came home 13th overall in a Healey Elliott (low-light), finishing first in the Touring Car Category and achieving a record time. This was the first time that a British car had won the Touring Car Category in the Mille Miglia. The car raced as number 76. It was in Jade Green, had no sunshine roof, and had the registration number GUE 722. |
